Unacceptable: Panasonic S1 (shooting in Cinelike D).The transition to yellow is just unacceptable. I was horrified to see the Z6 perform so poorly.

When you overexpose skin tones the effects are really important, because it contributes a great deal to the ‘video’ look. Takeaway: This is where the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K ( Amazon, B&H) really shines. The Z6 wasn’t far behind, maybe by just a 1/3rd of a stop. It was surprising to see how well the Sonys performed. Takeaway: The BMPCC 4K has the best highlights, but just by a whisker (probably 1/3rd stop at best).

Unfortunately they didn’t update it with V-log (same old story). I can get the job done with the GH5.ĭisclaimer: I was given the Panasonic S1 as a loaner from Panasonic India. For just low light performance I miss out on all the other goodies the Panasonic GH5 ( Amazon, B&H) has. Both companies can reach me if they want. I would have loved to have the Canon EOS R ( Amazon, B&H) in this comparison. I’ve tried several times with Canon to get demo units, and I’ve given up. Why isn’t there a Canon EOS R, GH5S or Fuji X-T3? Blackmagic Design Pocket Camera 4K ( Amazon, B&H).Ready for an epic real-world camera shootout and comparison between seven different cameras? The contenders: I bet next time Panasonic will hand no pre-production camera over nobody since people don't quite understand what pre-production means.Exclusive Bonus: Download 4 cinematic LUTs for the Sony a7S III, for free. Man, I've never seen such weird coverage about a camera that hasn't been launched yet. So in some cameras NR is probably completely turned off in 10-bit, and as we know, no manufacturer release a camera like this with NR turned off, you can dial up or down, but never turn it off. I asked Sean Robinson and he said that there is no difference in ISO performance between 8-bit and 10-bit, so most likely this is simply due to pre-production FW in some cameras. So from that, the first thing you should ask is if this is because it's pre-production and then, just ask them.

Second of all, there are actually ISO tests with 10-bit 422 in which the 10-bit 422 footage looks exactly like the 8-bit did in this test. You guys could have done homework and simply asked Panasonic.įirst, does it make sense for their flagship feat to look worse? No.
